im off the hiatus!
Ive been pretty weak at my blogging for the last couple months... well actually since i started blogging... but school is out, and the summer idleness will result in MANY new blog posts over the next couple months. I was thinking about the direction I should take my blog and I wanna keep it open ended. Music is a HUUUGGGGEEE part of my life so it'll be mainly about new records, artists, music news etcc .. I'm still gonna just write about whatever comes to mind

YOUNG love.

This whole "domestic abuse" situation involving Chris Brown and Rihanna has gone all too far. Domestic abuse is not a joke at all, yet I can't log into facebook without seeing the leeked picture of Rihanna's injured face and comments like "aaww Chris f**ked her up" or "D**N!"... its so rididuclous how people aren't acknowlegding that even though these two are in the public eye, they are human beings. They both have feelings just like us and they all make mistakes. Chris Brown is wrong for what he did. But he is not the first man to hit his girlfirend and sadly he won't be the last.
How would you feel if your sigificant other abused you, and you saw your picture all over the 6 o'clock news the next day? It is insaanneee how insensitive the media and the public are acting right now.... acting like thousands of women don't get battered everyday in their homes. Why aren't people looking at the whole picture: domestice abuse is a problem. So it takes two pop superstars for it to matter??! No. It matters each time someone is touched out of anger.
I just think everyone needs to take two steps back and realize that its not a joke or a game. Its real life and whether people know it or not everytime someone reposts the picture of Rihanna's face or makes a joke out of the situation they are making it seem less than what it is.

AND THE BEST NEW ARTIST IS...... ADELE!
After watching the 51st Grammy award last night i was stunned and very excited to see that Adele was chosen as the best new artist. I have been a follower of her music since I first saw her featured as a "you oughta know" artist on VH1 last winter. I LOVE soul music, and after getting into artists like Joss Stone and Amy Winehouse I have really started appreciating the emergence of blue-eyed soul from the UK. Historically R&B and soul come from African Americans in the US back in the 50's, but right now these talented English ladies are really bringing a fresh sound to soul music. Adele is a singer-songwriter which makes me love her music so much more. Listening to her songs you feel what she's saying because you know she's telling a story through her sweet melodies. Adele's debut album "19" is such a solid album from start to finish, i really really really LOVE IT and I LOVE HER as an artist. After they called her name for best new artist my cousin Merique said, "art won". And its so true. Others nominated for the title of best new artist were Duffy and Jonas Brothers, I personally thought that because Jonas Brothers are such a big success commerically that they would win the award. Hardly ever do artists that are lesser know with better talent get the kudo's that they deserve. I am soooo happy that WHOEVER votes for the winners of the Grammy's actually recognized her rare talent. If you havent checked out Adele your missing out!here are some links to her and her music:

"808's and HEARTBREAK"
"there is nothing wrong with change if it is i the right direction"
-winston churchill
So I've been a fan Kanye West for the past 3 years now... and everything he puts out there as an artist I've
felt was GOLD from his production on Jay-Z albums to his College Droput, Late Registration, & Graduation. So when I heard about 808's I was expecting the same Kanye, and I feel like alot of people were too. I was neglecting to remember that people are ALWAYS evovling and after the death of his mother and break up with Lexi his fiancee I don't think its fair to think that Kanye could possibly be THE SAME person. Kanye is definitely living life differently. 808's is on a another level than Kanye's other albums.
YES kanye is a hip hop artist NO kanye doesn't have to continously produce stereotypical hip hop.
At first when I previewed 808's on myspace I liked it, but I was not full impressed. I felt like Kanye overused the auto-tune affect and he was being more of a singer than a rappper. Overall just was not impressed. But, last night for some reason I couldn't sleep. So I started listening to my ipod and I put on the whole album.. I wanted to see how I liked it when I was JUST focusing on the music.. not doing anything else. I basically let every song play I LOVED IT ♥ I came to the realization that if it wasn't Kanye that put out that album everyone love it.. but because we all have this idea that he has to be this "i don't give a F**K" hip hop artist instead of AN ARTIST PERIOD we've shut our minds from really giving 808's a chance.
I loved the 80's vibe of "Paranoid" and the desperation in "Say You Will" and of course the struggle in "Pinnochio Story". No 808's and Heartbreak isn't the K
anye I feel in love with, but its the Kanye thats developing HIS OWN as an artist, free from a mold, uninhibited
i love it.
